Caretaker Cabernet 2017

$65.00

Tasting Notes

Originally planted by Trevor Harris in the mid 90’s, these Cabernet Sauvignon vines are grown in high density with minimal irrigation to draw as much character as possible from the ironstone rich soils in which they are grown.

The result, a smooth, elegant Cabernet showing true varietal character. The lifted bouquet displays lavender, anise and red currants accompanied by cedar.

An elegant palate of blueberry, blackcurrant & red liquorice with alluring savoury notes of paprika and persistent finesse.

An extremely limited production of only 792 bottles that will age gracefully, or drink now paired with rare lamb dishes.

What Reviewers Are Saying

A sweet-fruited style with red licorice and pure blackcurrant flavours delivered with a topping of creamy vanilla. It’s not ultra beefy but it’s full-bodied with well-integrated tannin and bay leaf notes rising as it breathes. Campbell Mattinson
